Silver City, MS & Humphreys County

Through strategic partnerships in the area, Anemoi has agreed to work alongside Humphreys County Emergency Operation Center to assist with coordination of disaster relief efforts. As you may be aware, Humphreys County is the home of Silver City, a community of approximately 2,000 persons which was utterly decimated by a long-track, deadly tornado. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of the victims and all involved.

As you can see by the status of things in the pictures below, this community woke up to a nightmare on Saturday, March 25th. It takes a LOT of resources to help them pick up the pieces. In these situations, we typically focus on two main things right from the start:

1. Clearing debris and making roads passable.

We are working to keep the chainsaws gassed up and running. But it takes money to purchase fuel, chainsaw chains, blades… We use our own money and equipment, but these “disposables” can really add up, and DONOR DOLLARS HELP!

2. Keeping bellies full and people hydrated.

One of our partner organizations will be here to cook and make sure that people don’t go without the most basic of needs… the one that we are called to fill for our neighbors when they are without.
