Auxiliary Emergency Communications

“AUXCOMM” is an umbrella term and acronym for “auxiliary communications.” It was developed by CISA in 2009 with the assistance of amateur radio subject matter experts.  The concept behind the acronym was to educate as many amateur radio entities to work and train with public safety personnel, understand the value of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS) concept and the role of the communications unit leader (COML). The AUXCOMM position is officially recognized as part of the Incident Command System (ICS) under the Communications Unit as AUX-C or Technical Specialist (THSP).

Anemoi Incident Response's Auxcomm Team is a nationwide team of amateur radio volunteer operators who can be deployed before, during, and after a disaster incident when normal methods of communication are disrupted due to infrastructure breakdown.

Our team of volunteer amateur radio operators deploy to disaster areas to establish communications to assist local communities, Anemoi support teams, as well as victims affected by disasters.

This blog will function as primary destination for updates from our growing Auxcomm Team.
